Growing Guide: Harvest

She is a beautiful, ripe
—— strain,
and she spent —- weeks
under a 1000 watt
High Pressure Sodium
bloom light.

I mention that only because
I don’t want anyone out there
thinking that this was grown
under fluorescent light, or
sunlight, or a lower watt
High pressure sodium bulb.

Okay, so how did we decide
that she is fully ripe and ready
for harvest?

First, we consulted our pot growing guide garden logs.
We found that number —-
was bloomed exactly —- weeks ago,
and that is the typical bloom time,
in our garden
for this particular strain.
Different strains take a different number
of weeks, from about 7, up to about 9 weeks
So that’s our first thumb up.

Next. We need to make a closer examination
to be completely sure.
Remember, gardening is half science,
and half art.
Knowing the optimal time to
harvest your cannabis plants is
one crucial part of this art,
that is best decided by science.

If you keep a calender, it can really help
you to be patient, and not harvest
your girls too soon.  Record keeping is
critical to grow Primo pot indoors.

I’ve seen people talk themselves into
cutting down their plants too soon
for all kinds of reasons.
Ooh, the leaves are so yellow,
we better cut it down now.
Oh my, the buds are so heavy
they’re hanging down to the ground.
They must be ready.
Look, look, It’s full of brown hairs.
Let’s throw it in the oven and smoke it.

Excellent.
God, I wish I could do voices.
That was supposed to be Monty Burns, sorry.

So what’s the gold standard in
evaluating your girlfriends?
The simple test that can’t miss?

Patience. Patience. Taking your
marijuana flowers too soon can result in
a harsher smoke with considerably
less THC, and all the other cannabinoids.
You don’t want to waste 3 or more months
of hard work by being impatient right?

So, are you guessing at the best test yet?
Are you wondering what it will be?
And wishing I would just shut up
and get to the point?

Does it feel a little like looking
at your garden,
and salivating over the sweet medicine
it will produce?
And not wanting to wait that last week?
It looks good enough, right?

Don’t do it!

Growing Guide: Is She Ripe?

Wait, Wait! I’ll tell you the secret.
I promise.

(laugh)

No, Just kidding!
Since you’ve been so patient,
You will be rewarded by me
and by your plants.

Here’s the science (hold up a mag. Glass)
and here’s the trick.

Trichomes are small globules on the
flowers and leaves that produce and
store active cannabinoids.
When trichomes are fully ripe and
loaded with chronic cannabinoids
they look like a ball on a pipe
and are clear.
By clear, I mean the color is transparent,
like water.

As the trichomes age past their prime
they begin to break down their cannabinoids
into inactive molecules,
They begin to turn amber and
continue to darken to a deep caramel
color as more and more potency is lost.

So let’s take a closer look at number —-
We’ll start at the top of the pot growing guide.
Here, you can see that there is a sea of
clear trichomes on this bud, but there are
also some amber colored trichomes.

This is exactly what we look for.
We let some of the trichomes at the top
go slightly past their prime, because the
lower flowers, tend to take a little longer to finish.

So, if we let the top buds go just past prime,
we expect lower buds to be closer
to prime time themselves.

So let’s look at some lower flowers.
Ahhh, beautiful. All well-developed,
Clear trichomes. Nice.

So today, we’ll trim this plant
and prepare it for drying,
Next week, it will go out to
patients all over Seattle
healing their pain, nausea, PTSD, wasting,
And countless other ailments.

It makes me very proud to supply
the best possible medicine to our patients
and I hope this video helps you
get the most out of your
glorious ganja garden.

Invest 10 dollars, or so
in a small microscope,
and you’ll never wonder
if you’re harvesting your girls
too soon again.

Patience is a wonderful virtue
and a great asset when it comes
to cultivating cannabis.
Be patient and be rewarded.

Well, that’s it for this week

I HAVE PLANTS THAT ARE ABOUT A FOOT TALL AND ARE STARTING TO GET AFEW WHITE HAIRS ON THEM, CAN I PUT THESE PLANTS BACK ON 18 HOURS OF LIGHT AND 6 HOURS OF DARK, WITHOUT HURTING THEM? WILL THEY GO BACK TO THE GROW STAGE AND THE HEAIRS GO AWAY IF I PUT THEM OUT SIDE IN THE MAY SUN? I HAVE (2) CLONES AND THAT WAS WHAT I WAS GOING FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE !
