There are many reasons why patients,

And other users of dried cannabis flowers

Would prefer to eat their pot

Rather than smoke it.

 

So today, we’re going to show you

One of the ways to prepare your flowers,

To eat them, in butter.

 

Several foods attract the active ingredients in pot,

The cannabinoids.

And pull them right out of the leaves and flowers.

THC, which you may have heard of,

Is just one of at least sixty known active cannabinoids

In marijuana.

To take your cannabinoids,

OK, to make your medicated weed butter,

First, you need to decide how much

cannabutter you’d like to make, and how strong

You’d like it to be.

 

Personally, I like to cook with sweet leaf marijuana.

Here is one ounce of sweet leaf ganja.

These are the small leaves that grow out of the flowers,

They’re the little leaves that are trimmed off the buds,

After they’re dried properly,

We’ll cover drying weed in another video.

 

The big floppy leaves, like these,

are called fan leaves.

Some people like to cook these down to bake with,

But I find that butter to be too mild.

 

This is a gorgeous bud

That I am fortunate enough

To be able to use legally, here in Seattle,

And Primo won’t rest,

until it’s legal for everyone

In my beloved country.

 

I find that marijuana butter made with bud material to be too strong

And too expensive.

But if you want to use it

I’d use half the amount of bud,

As I use of sugar leaf, or sweet leaf.

 

Here’s what you’ll need.

Butter,

Cannabis, I’ll be using sweet leaf

A pot to boil in, with a cover.

At least two quarts of water.

A large bowl

A strainer

And something to use as a squisher.

I’ll use this —-

We’ll get back to that later.

 

Here is a solid, effective ratio of sweet leaf to butter

One ounce of sweet leaf to one pound of butter,

If you don’t have much medicine,

Or don’t have much butter,

Or if you’re making brownies for a huge party,

you can adjust the amounts from there.

.

Pour the water in the pan.

Unwrap and place the butter in the water.

Add your Primo Ganja

Cover and bring to a boil.

While we wait for it to boil,

I’ll read out loud from Ben Stein’s

Ha Ha Ha  Just kidding.

Welcome back.  It’s been some minutes

And the water is boiling rapidly.

Turn down the heat, so the boil is reduced to a simmer

Then mix the plant material into the water and butter.

Cover and let simmer for at least an hour,

But be careful about letting it simmer much longer than that.

If all the water is boiled off as steam, the butter will burn

And everything will be ruined.  Trust me, I’ve done it,

So do yourself a favor and use some kind of timer or alarm.

That’s one hour.

Now, I’m going to turn off the stove

And let the mixture cool before I strain it.

You could go ahead and strain it right away,

But I find it easier and safer to just let it cool for a while.

 

One quick episode of Family Guy oughta do it.

So now I’ll go ahead and strain my butter.

(pick up pan and move to counter, move camera to watch strain)

 

This is where the squisher comes in.

I’m sure Martha Stewart would squeeze this

Out by wrapping it in cheese cloth

But my squisher works just fine.

 

When you’ve squished and squeezed

As much as you think you can,

Discard the plant matter

And move the strained mixture to the fridge.

 

You’ll need to leave it in the fridge

Until it cools completely

Until it’s cold enough for all the butter

To stiffen up and resolidify

 

I don’t know if it takes 4 or 6 hours,

I just leave it overnight

to make sure it’s completely hardened.

So all of the cannabutter floated to the top

And the leftover water is on the bottom

What I want to do is separate them.

There’s no way around the messiness of this process…….

So make sure your hands are washed

And dig in.

 

So here is the finished pot butter.

Now your ready to substitute this marijuana butter

For the butter you use in any of your favorite recipes.

The weed will add a slight vegetable flavor to whatever you prepare,

So be prepared for that.

 

Finding the amount of butter, or dosage, that’s right for you

will probably take some experimenting.

Start with a small amount, half a pat or less,

And increase that amount until you find what works best for you.

 

Remember, though, and this is VERY important.

When you smoke cannabis, you feel the effects almost instantly,

But when you eat cannabis, as butter or any other way,

It takes a full 45 minutes

Before you feel the full effects of your edible medicine.

 

Also, one more thing I forgot to mention earlier,

If you decide to make your butter with buds,

You’ll want to grind up the buds before

Putting them into the butter and water mixture to boil.

 

And that’s it.
